Suikoden Tactics In Stores

November 10, 2005 - Konami Digital Entertainment - America, a division of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., announced that Suikoden Tactics™ for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system has shipped to retail stores nationwide. Suikoden Tactics is the first game in the acclaimed role playing based series that includes turn-based strategy and simulation elements. Following the adventures of a new hero, Kyril, the game allows players to experience this unique Suikoden universe in an all-new way. As an added bonus, packaged with the first run of Suikoden Tactics will be a limited edition music soundtrack CD-ROM featuring re-arranged tracks from the complete Suikoden franchise.

A truly sweeping and epic adventure set in beautifully rendered 3D environments, Suikoden Tactics thrusts players into the shoes of a young adventurer investigating the sudden appearance of hideous creatures in the Island Nations. While progressing through the game, players will encounter a cast of over 70 characters and will be able to bring over 50 of them into battle, including many familiar faces from past Suikoden games as well as well as characters that are new to the series. Throughout the game, they will gain new perspective on the events of Suikoden IV as well as uncover the dark, troubling secrets of the Rune Cannon.

Featuring more than 25 intense battle scenarios, Suikoden Tactics requires players to master innovative fighting systems. By merging the abilities of numerous characters with the 'Combination Attack System,' players can maximize the strength of their party and use those heightened skills to dominate their enemies on the battlefield. The game also features a 'Ground Elemental System,' where the ground itself contains the power of the elements, such as earth, wind, water, fire and lightning. Players can use these elements during battle for healing, inflicting damage to enemies, increasing your characters' stats or decreasing your enemies' stats. These abilities add a new level of strategy to the game as well as provide players a way to gain a tactical advantage during battle. In addition, newly added menus allow players to modify and improve their characters' skills, tailor their equipment and upgrade their weapons to fully customize their team members throughout the game - making their troops a force to be reckoned with!

Sega Launches Shining Force Neo For Playstation 2

October, 20, 2005 - SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced the release of Shining Force Neo exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. Featuring stunning anime cut-scenes from Studio 4°C, and a dynamic story spanning more than 40 hours, Shining Force Neo takes the popular Shining Force franchise into the realm of action role-playing.

Developed by SEGA Studios, Shining Force Neo is a tale of knights and magic, set in a world that has been popular with RPG fans for nearly 15 years. Max, a young fighter training for knighthood, has been tasked by his father to close monster portals that have opened up in peaceful villages. With the help of 11 friends, Max's quest will take him all over the world, and through his heroic acts, he will ultimately become a legendary hero.

Serph, leader of the Embryon, wanders aimlessly through the lifeless streets before him.

"By delivering a powerful and visceral experience, Shining Force Neo takes the classic Shining Force franchise in a totally new direction," said Don Mesa, Senior Brand Manager, SEGA of America. "We are proud to introduce the next evolution of the Shining Force series to role-playing fans exclusively for the PlayStation 2."

Deep character customization makes up the strategic component of Shining Force Neo, which allows players to turn Max into a powerful sorcerer or a mighty warrior. More than 150 stat-improving items, called Force Arts, can be equipped for an unprecedented level of specialization. Real-time combat creates a deeper sense of personal involvement in battles, and the presence of more than 90 enemies on screen at once ratchets up the grand scale that the Shining Force games are known for. And the fast-paced action never lets up: a single play-through of the game clocks in at more than 40 hours. For those still addicted after the credits roll, an advanced dungeon unlocks when the final boss is toppled.

XSEED Games Announces Two Role-Playing Games

September 21, 2005 - XSEED Games, a new video game publisher, today announced that it has obtained exclusive publishing rights for WILD ARMS® 4 and SHADOW HEARTS® FROM THE NEW WORLD (both for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system) for the North American market. Both titles are scheduled for release in Q1 2006.

WILD ARMS 4 is the newest chapter in the popular role-playing game series which has shipped over 2.5 million copies worldwide. Featuring a new cast of characters, an original storyline, and a new strategic battle system, it appeals to new players of the series while fans will instantly recognize the mainstays of the WILD ARMS world of Filgaia. WILD ARMS 4 follows the journey of four teenagers as they reshape the future of Filgaia.

The Story
Jude Maverick has grown up in an isolated town called Ciel, which is completely enclosed in a large sphere floating thousands of feet above the surface of Filgaia. His sheltered world changes forever when he sees the sky "tear" and ships entering his homeland. Upon inspecting the camp site set up by the intruders, he sees something that he has never seen before; a girl. The girl's name is Yulie and she is being held captive by the intruders after being captured by a "Drifter" for hire, Arnaud G. Vasquez. After the invading army attacks Ciel and brings the whole sphere crashing down, Jude, Yulie and Arnaud join forces to find out the army's true intention behind Yulie's abduction. With the help of another Drifter, Raquel, these four idealistic teenagers travel the war-torn land of Filgaia in search of truth, their own identities and their individual paths to adulthood.

The addictive Judgment Ring System has been improved, adding even more excitement and strategy to the overall gameplay.

The Story
The story begins as Johnny Garland, a young, 16-year old detective who lost his father, sister and his memory in an accident, accepts an investigation to track down a criminal suspect who escaped from custody. As he closes in on the suspect, Johnny witnesses a supernatural occurrence - a huge monster appears from a green light known as the "window" and swallows up the criminal. Apparently, a series of horrific incidents similar to this have been plaguing the cities across the nation. Johnny's female counterpart is 21-year-old bounty hunter Shania, a Native American who is searching for these mysterious windows and determined to fight them using her spiritual powers. Together, they travel around the states and are joined by other characters.

Key Features

  • Series trademark Judgment Ring battle system makes a return with improvements - "Stock System" allowing players the option of executing a "Combo" command with a second character or "Double" command enabling a character to perform two different actions in one turn.

  • A cast of well-drawn, entertaining characters with distinct personalities and reappearances by a few of the series' favorites.
